Originally released in 1987, The $5.98 E.P. – Garage Days Re-Revisited captures Metallica in a raw and energetic moment between major studio albums. Recorded quickly in the band’s rehearsal space in Los Angeles, the EP features Metallica tearing through a selection of cover songs from bands that influenced their early sound. The record marked the first release to feature bassist Jason Newsted following the death of Cliff Burton, and it showcases the band reconnecting with their underground thrash roots.
