Originally released in 1987, Keeper of the Seven Keys Part I is the album that defined power metal as a genre. This 12″ vinyl LP captures Helloween at the moment they reshaped heavy metal — fusing speed, melody, fantasy themes, and precision musicianship into a sound that would influence generations of bands across Europe and beyond.
Featuring the unmistakable vocals of Michael Kiske, razor-sharp guitar work from Kai Hansen and Michael Weikath, and anthems that balance aggression with soaring harmony, this record is both historically essential and endlessly replayable. Tracks like “Halloween,” “Future World,” and “I’m Alive” remain benchmarks for melodic metal songwriting.
Pressed on vinyl for maximum analogue impact, this release delivers punchy lows, shimmering highs, and the dynamic range that digital formats struggle to replicate — exactly how this album was meant to be experienced.
Why this record is in the Crimson Vinyl collection
Some records don’t just age well — they set the rules. Keeper of the Seven Keys Part I is one of those albums. It represents the birth of a movement, the moment power metal stepped out of the underground and found its identity. I was fortunate enough to buy this record when it was first released (cant believe it was nearly 40 years ago) - and this record still features heavily on my turntable. This is the album that made me a life long fan of the band. Classic tracks include I'm Alive, A Little Time, Future World and Halloween!
